THE SPIRIT OF BACKWARDNESS IS HINDERING YOUR NEW SEASON
Main Scriptures: Philippians 3:13–14; Isaiah 43:18–19; Hebrews 12:1–2; Deuteronomy 1:6–8.
- You cannot fully embrace what God is bringing into your future while remaining spiritually attached to everything He is calling you to leave behind.
- There are seasons when the greatest battle in a believer's life is not the absence of God's promises but the inability to respond correctly to the demands of a new season.
- Israel was delivered from Egypt in one night, but it took years for the Egyptian mentality to leave their hearts. Their location changed, but their thinking remained imprisoned.
This reveals a profound spiritual principle:
It is possible to leave a place physically but continue living under its influence mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
The Bible says:
“The LORD our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain.” Deuteronomy 1:6 NIV
God was essentially telling Israel, "Your present location has become too small for My next instruction."
There are believers who have spent too long at the same spiritual mountain—not because God has abandoned them, but because they have refused to respond to His instructions.
Let's examine seven marks that can hinder a believer from moving forward.
